Around ages 12 or 13, most children no longer have any baby teeth and the “adult” teeth are in except for the third molars (wisdom teeth). Teens want to grow more independent and have further control over their dietary habits, so it is common for Drs. Morgan, Allman, and Compton to see an increase in cavities. We will also take X-rays of your child’s teeth to check the development of the wisdom teeth. You should let Rockwall Pediatric Dentistry know if your child is experiencing pain from their wisdom teeth, and we’ll discuss removal options. Also, it is important to be aware of substance abuse and eating disorders as they become more prevalent in the adolescent years and will affect your child’s oral health.
